1.What this page is
Comparano is a comparison shopping service. Comparing prices, viewing price history and setting alerts is free for shoppers. This page explains how we earn money instead — and, just as importantly, what that does not change for you.
2.How we earn
Most “Go to store” links on Comparano are affiliate links. When you click one, you are redirected to the store through an affiliate network — such as Awin, Rakuten Advertising, CJ, Impact or Tradedoubler — or through a direct partnership with the store. If you then buy something, the store pays us a commission, usually a small percentage of the order value; a few programmes pay per click instead.
The commission is paid by the store out of its own margin. We receive nothing from you.
3.The price you pay
Affiliate links never make a product more expensive. The price at the store's checkout is the same whether you arrive from Comparano, from a search engine or by typing the store's address yourself. If a store gives us an exclusive voucher or discount for our visitors, we label it as such on the offer.
4.How offers are ranked
Offers on a product page are sorted by total price including delivery, cheapest first, unless you choose another sort order. The commission a store pays — or whether it pays one at all — is never a factor in that ranking, and stores cannot buy a higher position.
One honest limitation: we can only list stores whose product data we receive, through a network or a direct feed. A store that is not on Comparano is not necessarily more expensive; it may simply not share its data with us.
5.Sponsored placements
We do not show advertising or paid placements today. If we ever introduce them, they will be clearly labelled “Sponsored”, shown separately from the price ranking, and never mixed into the sorted list of offers.
6.What happens when you click
When you click “Go to store”, we record the click (the offer, store, product and time, plus salted hashes of your IP address and browser signature to detect click fraud) and redirect you through the network's tracking link. The network and the store may set their own cookies on their domains under their own privacy policies, so that a purchase can be attributed to the click. We never pass them your name or email address. Details are in our Privacy policy.
7.Our independence
Comparano is not owned by, and does not own, any store or affiliate network. Stores cannot pay for reviews, editorial coverage or a place in our catalogue beyond providing their product data. Product descriptions and images come from the stores; our own texts are written independently.
